After Nepal spinning sensation Sandeep Lamichhane, it is 16-year old Rohit Paudel who set a record for Nepal in international cricket!
Paudel made a score of 55 off 58 deliveries in Nepal’s ODI series at UAE!
Nepal’s Paudel is now in records as the world’s youngest cricketer to have made the record score at the age of 16 years and 146 days after India’s Master-Blaster Sachin Tendulkar (16 years and 213 days) and Shahid Afridi who scored a century against 37 deliveries (16 years and 217 days).
His half-century was Nepal’s highest score in the second ODI against UAE which began with a score of 1-0 down in the series.
On the other hand, Nepal ace spin bowler Lamichhane claimed 4-29, driving Nepal to defeat UAE at 97 runs.
Nepal registered a record victory of 242-9 in their 50 over match.
Congratulations Nepal!
Paudel was close to setting a world record when he made his ODI debut at 15 years and 335 days in August 2018, emerging as the ‘fourth youngest player in history’ to do so.
He rose to become a promising cricketer for Nepali cricket when he bowled high-rated Indian speedster Kamlesh Nagarkoti for 24 runs in 5 balls at the U19 ODI in 2016.
