The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is all set to appoint Lalchand Rajput of India as the head coach for the national cricket team.
Lalchand Rajput is a former Indian cricketer and is currently the head coach of the Zimbabwe national team.
Earlier to this, Rajput was the head coach of the Afghanistan national team from 2016 to 2017. During his spell in charge, Afghanistan was promoted to full membership of the International Cricket Council.
On the back of his past credentials, the CAN has approached Rajput for the post of head coach.
“Rajput has already agreed orally to come to Nepal. However, salary negotiations are still underway,” said the CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand.
The CAN is looking for a foreign coach since the resignation of Umesh Patwal in February 2020. After that, Nepal’s Jagat Tamata was named as the interim coach.
