July 18, 2017

The Nepal Under-19 cricket team registered a four-wicket victory over hosts Singapore in the first match of ICC U-19 World Cup Division-1 Asia Qualifiers on Monday at Padang.

Put into bat by Nepal, Singapore could only manage a total of 73 runs in 29 overs. Nepal skipper Sandeep Lamichhane was the pick of the bowlers with a five-wicket haul while conceding 21 runs. Lower order batsman Brigu Iyer top scored for Singapore with 42 runs.

Chasing the modest target, Nepal were reeling at one stage losing four wickets by the 11th over. However, Pranit Thapa Magar with 23 runs and Anil Sah with19 runs put together a good partnership and ensured Nepal’s victory in the 18th over.

Lamichhane was adjudged the man of the match for his splendid bowling effort. Nepal will play against Malaysia in their next match today.
