Ultimate Sports Management (USM), an Indian sports management company, is all set to organize the Asian Premier League (APL) T20 tournament in Nepal in association with National Sports Council (NSC). The tournament will be held at the TU Cricket Ground from June 19 to July 4.
The tournament will have six franchise teams from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The names of the APL teams are Nepal Storm, Indian Stars, Sri Lankan Lions, Bangladeshi Tigers, Afghanistan Bulls and the UAE’s Dubai Warriors. The teams will feature former and current international players.
USM’s Chairman said that 150 international players will be in the auction and 108 players will be selected by owners and coaches of the APL teams. The players have been categorized into grades A, B and C with the base prices of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
The winning team of the tournament will receive Rs 4 million while the runner-up and third place finisher will bag Rs 1.6 million and Rs 0.8 million respectively.
