The Chairman of the ruling CPN-UML party KP Sharma Oli reshuffled the party’s all key positions during the first Central Committee (CC) meeting of the reinstated UML on Friday.
However, the CC members of the party close to senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal were not invited to the meeting.
The meeting made some vital decisions, especially the transfer of responsibilities given to the leaders close to senior leader Nepal to the leaders belonging to the erstwhile CPN (Maoist Center).
Other decisions include holding the party’s general convention from November 18-22, amending the party’s statute, and scrapping all office-bearers’ positions except the post of Chairman and General Secretary. Most of the scrapped positions were held by the leaders close to Nepal.

The CC meeting elected new provincial in-charges of the UML and nominated 23 leaders of the former Maoist Center as UML CC members.

The CC meeting of the Oli-led faction of the UML named Bishnu Paudel as the chief of the party’s Organization Department, replacing Bam Dev Gautam.

The meeting also elected Dr. Rajan Bhattarai as the chief of the party’s Foreign Affairs Department, replacing senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. Leader Pradeep Gyawali has been elected as the head of the party’s Publicity Department.
Addressing the meeting, Oli informed that the next CC meeting of the party would be held on March 20. He asked General Secretary Pokharel to invite the CC members close to senior leader Nepal for the next meeting.
