12th Chitwan Festival Begins, Promotes Visit Nepal 2020

The 12th edition of the Chitwan festival began on the banks of Narayani river on January 09, 2019.

This biannual festival is being organized by the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce with the theme Chitwan’s Pride and Dignified Presentation.

Nepal former Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ inaugurated a procession by releasing a balloon to launch the nine-day festival. The procession took a walk around the Narayangadh Bazar with various organizations participating in it.

 

According to Festival’s Main Organizing Committee Coordinator Sahan Lal Pradhan, the 12th Chitwan festival will include activities such as national-level seminars on agriculture, communication, education, energy, health, and tourism.

Moreover, entrepreneurs from 22 Nepal districts and abroad will exhibit their products at 520 stalls.

According to Chitwan Festival Management Committee Coordinator Chum Narayan Shrestha, the event will also see the likes of Indian, Chinese, Bangladeshi and Pakistani producers.

Furthermore, the exhibit will also feature agricultural promotion, commercial, information & technology-related, Nepali handicraft expo and other stalls.

The Chitwan festival is a part of the Nepal Government’s Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign with the main aim to promote tourism destinations in Chitwan district and making it Nepal’s premier tourism destination.

The 12th edition of the Chitwan Festival will run until January 18, 2019.

Recently, Nepal’s major tourist hub Chitwan also held the 15th edition of the popular Elephant Festival which concluded on December 30, 2018.
