The upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 Asia Qualifiers (Round 2) between Kuwait and Nepal will now be held in Bhutan.
Unfortunately, the FIFA games which are being played in home-and-away format will not see Nepal play on home ground in the next match as the Dasharath stadium has been considered ‘unfit’ for a game of such magnitude.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) wrote to the All Nepal Football Association stating that the Dhasharath Stadium does not meet the international standards to host such big football tournaments, after AFC representatives inspected it on November 05, 2019.
Following this, ANFA has proposed that the FIFA and AFC hold the games in Bhutan. According to the schedule, Nepal will have to host Kuwait on November 19, 2019. The Nepali teams has finished playing all the matches in the away format and will be hosting the home matches now.
Nepal has been grouped alongside Australia, Japan, Kuwait and Chinese Taipei in Group B of the Asia Qualifiers Round 2. Currently, Australia leads the chart with nine points, followed by Jordan, Kuwait and Nepal with seven, four and three points, respectively.
