Nepal Bonita Sharma in BBC 100 Women 2019

Nepal’s Bonita Sharma has made it to BBC’s list of 100 Inspiring Women from across the world.

The BBC 100 Women 2019 list has placed Nepal’s entrepreneur and change initiator under the Knowledge category.

Sharma is an advocate for women empowerment and education in Nepal. Besides, she founded the organization Social Changemakers and Innovators (SOCHAI) for the same cause.

“There are people in the world who are facing the devastating consequences of inequality in health, education and nutrition right now, and there are women and girls who are working relentlessly to change this status quo. I hope every woman and girl will have an opportunity to reach their full potential in life without any discrimination,” says Sharma.

The inspirational youth also conducts awareness campaigns on the importance of nutritious food in Nepal. In an attempt to curb child deaths owing to malnutrition, the young Nepali entrepreneur designed Nutribeads – a bracelet with different colors for new mothers.

Each colored bead is associated with a food type and reminds mothers what they have to feed their kids.
