Nepal on High Alert as WHO Declares Coronavirus as Global Emergency

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared coronavirus as global health emergency on January 30, 2020 as the death toll from the virus reaches 213 in China, with almost 10,000 confirmed cases.

Around 98 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in 18 other countries.

The WHO has expressed its concern about the possible spread of virus to countries with weaker health systems.

The main reason for this declaration is not what is happening in China but what is happening in other countries,” said WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
