Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Rameshwor Raya Yadav has announced the Government decision to provide jobs to 60,000 youth under the Prime Minister Employment Program (PMEP).
The Ministry has decided to offer a 100-day employment opportunity to the unemployed youngsters within the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-20.
The job opportunity will be provided in various sectors, namely Agriculture, Livestock Rearing, Energy, Forest and Tourism.
A total of NPR 5.01 billion has been allocated for the employment program.
The Nepali Government has introduced the PMEP with an aim to provide jobs to the eligible youngsters and end the migration of Nepalese to foreign land for work.
As per the Government database, over 165,000 youth have secured labor permit within a span of 5 months of the current FY.
Moreover, according to the report by the World Bank, around 32% of the working-age population (15-64) in Nepal was unemployed.
The Nepali Government has launched the Prime Minister Employment Program (PMEP) on February 13, 2019.
Around 175,000 unemployed youth secured jobs during the FY 2018-19 under the PMEP.
