Nepal Announces NPR 85 Bn FDI for Hydel Projects

The Investment Board Nepal (IBN) has approved the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of Rs. 85 billion for the construction of three hydroelectric power projects.

Projects and Investments:

  • Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project – Rs. 65 billion
  • Marsyandgdibesi Hydroelectric Project – Rs. 11.77 billion
  • Upper Trishuli-3 ‘B’ Hydropower Project – Rs. 8.22 billion

The approval was signed during the meeting of IBN under the leadership of PM Oli on January 5, 2019.

 

Other dignitaries at the meeting:

  • Maha Prasad Adhikari – IBN Chief Executive Officer
  • Yubaraj Khatiwada – IBN Vice Chairman and Minister for Finance
  • Lekhraj Bhatta – Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies
  • Barsaman Pun – Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation
  • Sakti Bahadur Basnet – Minister for Environment
  • Ghanashyam Bhusal – Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development

Korean Government has joined hands with the Nepal Government to invest in the projects. Nepal Water and Energy Development Company will start the construction.
