The Nepali Government is all set to organize the Paragliding World Cup Asian Tour (PWCAT) and the 19th Nepal Open Paragliding Championship in Pokhara from February 23 – 29, 2020.

A total of 125 paragliding pilots from 30 various countries will take part in the event.

Event Organizers:

  • Nepal Airsport Association
  • Nepal Paragliding and Hand gliding Association

Event Coordinators:

  • International Aeronautical Federation

According to the organizers, around five to eight top pilots will be selected based on points and rankings for the World Cup.

The PWCAT is a part of the three tours to be held in South Asia in 2020 for determining the qualification of the pilots for the 2021 Paragliding World Cup Tour.

The remaining two tours are yet to be scheduled in the other South Asian countries.

PWCAT is being organized in a bid to boost the South Asian paragliding pilots to take part in the Paragliding World Cup Tour.

Moreover, the tour is expected to increase tourism arrivals during the ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ campaign inaugurated by Nepali Government.

The Nepali Government aims to attract 2 million tourists in 2020.
