The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has launched ‘Call Test’ and ‘Speed Test’ mobile applications on the occasion of its 22nd anniversary on March 3, 2020.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) Yuba Raj Khatiwada launched the applications during the anniversary function in Kathmandu.
The NTA has launched mobile applications in response to the growing concerns of the consumers regarding voice call quality and internet speed.
With these mobile apps, the consumers can check the quality of their calls and internet speed at a touch, and can even raise a complaint.
“We are hopeful that this app will solve the problem of quality and speed of Internet as users can easily file complaint against the service provider,” said NTA Spokesperson Prasad Aryal.
“Now that the app has been launched, telecom operators will also take the issue seriously,” he added.
According to Aryal, the NTA is planning to release both the apps for Android and iOS platforms within few days.
Earlier in January 2020, Nepal has been ranked 112th in fixed internet speed and 127th in mobile internet speed in the global internet speed rankings.
According to the Speedtest Global Index by Ookla, Nepal internet speed was recorded at 21.05 Mbps and 12.43 Mbps for mobile and fixed broadband in January 2020.
