The Department of Immigration (DoI) has closed all the visa services from August 10, 2020, until further notice.
The unprecedented decision to halt the services came after one of the Department’s staffers tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the DOI Director General Ramesh Kumar KC, 88 people, including 56 employees, 20 police personnel and other supporting staff on the DoI premises, were tested for coronavirus infection through the PCR method. Among them, one PCR test report came out to be positive for COVID-19.

“One staffer has tested positive, so we are closing the visa services. The Health Ministry has directed that the PCR test results of those who came in contact with that person will be out in three days. After the result is out, we might resume our services from the next week.” said Ramesh.
However, the DOI has provided contact details of designated officers, advising people to contact them directly in case of an emergency.
