The Nepali Sherpa Community across the country is all set to celebrate 2147th Gyalpo Lhosar today, i.e., February 24, 2020.
Gyalpo Lhosar is the celebration of New Year that falls on Shukla Pratipada in the Nepali month of Falgun as per the lunar calendar.
The new year festival is observed for almost 2 weeks.

On this occasion, people prepare various delicacies including a special soup made from meat, wheat, rice, sweet potato, cheese, peas, green pepper, vermicelli noodles and radish.
The festival is divided into 12 years, namely Mouse, Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Bird, Dog and Pig.
Yesterday was the end of the Pig Year and Mouse Year has started from today.
Meanwhile, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended her best wishes of happiness, prosperity and peace to Sherpas on the occasion of Gyalpo Lhosar.
