COVID-19 Nepalis: 5,247 Infected and 73 Dead Abroad

The coronavirus statistics by the Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) reveals that the situation of Nepalis living in various foreign countries is very daunting, especially those in American and European countries.

However, Nepal seems to avoid the worst from the COVID-19 crisis and has reported only 75 coronavirus cases so far.

According to the NRNA, a total of 5,247 Nepalis have been infected and 73 have died across various countries due to coronavirus infection.

 

However, 1,570 Nepalis have already recovered and discharged.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Government has started collaborating with the NRNA to provide relief support to Nepalis living in 45 foreign countries.

According to the NRNA General Secretary Dr. Hem Raj Sharma, the organization has already provided support to around 35,000 Nepalis abroad.

The NRNA has been collecting the data with the help of Nepalis Embassies, NRNA branches, and local communities in respective countries.

So far, the coronavirus has spread to 212 countries and territories and infected 3,582,886 people while claiming 248,567 lives.

The US continues to be the epicenter of coronavirus outbreak with 1,188,826 infection cases and 68,606 death cases.

Meanwhile, Russia has reported the highest 10,633 new COVID-19 infection cases in a single day on May 3, 2020. So far, the country has confirmed 145,268 infection cases and 1,356 death cases.
