Prince of Bahrain, 17 Others to Reach Nepal to Ascend Mt. Manaslu

Prince of Bahrain Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has received a mountain climbing permit for this year’s autumn climbing season in Nepal.

In a Cabinet Meeting on Sunday, the Nepali Government has decided to allow 18 international visitors, including the Prince of Bahrain, to enter Nepal for mountaineering activities.

Among the visitors, 15 are from Bahrain, and three are from the United Kingdom.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), the Prince of Bahrain and other visitors will reach Nepal on charter flights after September 15 to climb Mt. Manaslu and Mt. Lobuche.

However, all the climbers must follow the safety recommendations prepared by the Nepali Health Ministry upon their arrival in Nepal.

As the Nepali Government is preparing a quarantine modality for international visitors, the climbers should stay in quarantine for a week and undergo a PCR test before heading to their climbing destinations.

Nepal has re-opened mountain peaks for climbers and started issuing climbing permission in July, five months after mountaineering activities were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
