The implications of coronavirus pandemic are limitless, reaching even the smallest countries including Nepal, where the contagion has severely impacted the tourism industry.
The deadly virus has thrown a spanner in the nation’s ambitious ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ campaign.
It is a major setback for Nepal’s economy, as aimed to attract over 2 million foreign tourists, almost double from 2019.
However, the Nepali Government is planning to restore the tourism influx into the country after the pandemic.
As per the Economic Survey 2020/21 presented by Finance Minister Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada, the government is planning to attract over 2.5 million foreign tourists by 2025.
Accordingly, the tourism industry is planning to create job opportunities to 898,000 Nepalis in the next five years.
