While the global countries are currently facing the biggest challenge of dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, Nepal is corned by multiple problems.
Apart from the severe socio-economic implications of the pandemic, the country continues to witness unprecedented chaos due to the monsoon-induced disasters.
Since the arrival of monsoon on June 13, around 231 Nepalis have lost their lives, 208 were injured and 77 went missing due to the monsoon induced floods and landslides.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the monsoon mayhem wreaked havoc in over 60 districts across the country.
Sindhupalchowk is the worst-hit district. As many as 21 people lost lives and 41 went missing due to the natural disasters across the district.
Myagdi is the next district to witness huge human loss and property damage due to the disaster. Around 27 people lost their lives in the landslides and floods occurred in separate places.
Jajarkot, Bajhang, Kaski, Palpa, Parbat, Gulmi, and Lamjung are some other districts that are reeling under the disaster.
According to the Authority Chief Anil Pokhrel, the heavy rainfall in pre-monsoon and no disaster friendly development in the country are the prime reasons for the severe landslides this year.
As per the weather reports, the monsoon is set to end on September 23 this year.
