2021 Oscar Awards: All the Nepali Films Submitted So Far!

The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, is considered the most famous and prestigious awards in the film industry. The awards are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) as international recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements.

The upcoming 93rd Academy Awards is scheduled to take place on April 25, 2021. The AMPAS has requested the film industries of global countries, including Nepal, to submit their best film for the Best International Feature Film Award.

Earlier, it was scheduled for February 28, 2021, but was later postponed by two months in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

 

The submitted movies must be released in their respective countries between October 1, 2019, and December 31, 2020. The list of top 10 shortlisted movies will be released on February 9, 2021.

As we eagerly anticipate the 2021 Oscar Awards, let’s look at the famous Nepali movies submitted so far.

List of Nepali Movies Submitted to the Oscars:

1) Caravan/Himalaya

For the upcoming 2021 Oscar Awards, the Nepali Selection Committee has shortlisted two films, Aama by Dipendra K. Khanal and Sarita by Sergio Basso. The Committee is yet to submit a film for the next Oscars.
