COVID-19 Nepal: Over 1,000 Children Under Age 10 Test Positive!

The Nepali Government has reported as many as 581 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the national caseload to 27,241.

The new cases were confirmed after testing 11,520 COVID-19 suspects through the PCR method in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 160 patients were discharged on Monday, taking the country’s total recovery cases to 17,497. Currently, there are 9,639 active cases in the country, while 15,198 suspects are under quarantine.

 

Meanwhile, three patients, one each from Rautahat, Morang, and Kathmandu, lost their lives while undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Now, Nepal’s death toll stands at 107.

With COVID-19 inflicting enormous pressure on the already weak or overstretched health system in Nepal, the lives of many children are at risk of infection or death.

According to the MoHP, the coronavirus has infected more than 1,000 children below 10 years of age.

Of the 27,241 COVID-19 cases in the country, 1,019 children under age 10 have tested positive for coronavirus infection. Among the infected children, 618 are boys, and 401 are girls.

Kathmandu Valley’s Caseload Crosses 2,000-mark

The number of coronavirus cases in Kathmandu Valley has crossed 2,000-mark with 168 new cases on Monday.

As of today, the number of COVID-19 infections in the Valley has reached 2,134, while the death toll stands at 10. So far, 241 patients have recovered successfully.
