After a draw with Maldives in its first SAFF U18 Men’s Championship, Nepal was reduced to 0-3 in the Group match against Bhutan on September 22, 2019 in Kathmandu.
Bhutan’s Yonse made the first goal for his team in the 40th minute, while Nepal remained struggling to find an equalizer post-half-time.
Towards the end of the game, the Bhutanese U18 team registered victory by shooting out another two goals which Nepal was unsuccessful at defending.
Nepal’s defeat has threatened its qualification to the semis and its existence in this year’s SAFF U18 championship completely depends on the upcoming match between Bhutan and Maldives on September 24, 2019.
The Maldives will have to win or lose by a margin of four goals against Bhutan for Nepal to move ahead in the semis.
Bhutan stands on the top of the Group A points chart with three points, while Maldives and Nepal stand at second and third respectively, with one point each.
