Biratnagar sees a mixed impact of general strike, locally known as banda, called by Rastriya Janata Party Nepal on Tuesday. The party has been demanding the postponement of June 28 local elections, revision of the constitution among other issues.
The party cadres have damaged four vehicles in Biratnagar of Morang district for not supporting the banda.
Normal life was partially affected in the city as public transport services, marketplaces, educational institutions remained closed because of strike. Police said that no unpleasant events were filed so far, but the impact of the banda is slowly growing. Opposing the second phase of local polls, the party called for a three-day general strike in Terai districts.
