Nepal has bagged a new Guinness World Record of ‘The Highest Altitude Fashion Runway’ for organizing the “Mt. Everest Fashion Runway” show at an altitude of 5,644 meters at Kala Patthar.
Kasa Fashion Wear and RB Diamond Jewelers in coordination with Nepal Tourism Board and Visit Nepal Year 2020 Secretariat has organized the fashion show on January 26, 2020.
Around 15 models from various countries including Nepal, Finland, Sri Lanka, Italy and Singapore have participated in the show.
A team of 48 members have started their trekking from Lukla to Kala Patthar on January 18, 2020.
According to the organizers, the main aim of the fashion show is to encourage sustainable fashion and raise awareness about climate change, along with promoting the ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ campaign.
The fashion show featured the use of all-natural, organic and Nepali product line for the designs, patterns and materials. Nepali pashmina felt and yak wool were used for the clothing line.
Moreover, the organizers used bio-degradable designed clothes, shampoos, detergents, waterless bath and solar technology during their trek to Kala Patthar to avoid pollution.
The Journey of the model during the event will be telecasted as a reality show in MTV USA and Canada in May 2020.
The event’s telecast is expected to promote Nepali tourism and fashion across the world.
The fashion show is considered to play a prominent role in attracting foreign tourists during the ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ campaign.
