In a huge relief to thousands of students, the Nepali Government has decided to resume issuing No Objection Certificate (NOC) for those aspiring to go abroad for further studies.
In March, the government banned issuing NOCs for study in countries hard by the coronavirus pandemic, including China, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Iran, and Singapore.
Despite receiving their offer letters, many students have been restricted from getting enrolled in foreign universities because the NOC is a must to apply for the student visa and transfer money to foreign countries.
Amid the huge pressure from students, the government has decided to resume the distribution of NOCs in a Cabinet Meeting on Tuesday.
Every year, over 100,000 Nepali students receive the NOC certificate to study abroad.
According to the Ministry of Education, around 85,758 NOCs were issued between July 2018 and December 2019.
