According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal has recorded 2,253 new coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total cases to 86,823.
The new cases were reported after 12,784 suspects were tested for COVID-19 using the Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing method.
Meanwhile, around 1,329 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours after a successful recovery from the infection. So far, 64,069 patients have recovered in the country. At present, the recovery rate stands at 73.7%.
There are currently 22,219 active cases in the country, with 11,893 patients in home isolation, 10,326 in institutional isolation, and 4,203 in quarantine centers.
Unfortunately, seven people have lost their lives due to COVID-19, taking the nation’s death toll to 535.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley has reported 1,599 new cases on Sunday, including 1,373 in Kathmandu, 39 in Bhaktapur, and 187 in Lalitpur.
