As of today, Nepal has reported 18,613 coronavirus infection cases and 45 deaths. Currently, there are 5,440 active cases and 13,128 recovery cases.
Meanwhile, around 16,420,289 people have been infected by the coronavirus globally and 652,256 died. At present, there are 5,719,981 active cases and 10,048,052 recovery cases.
Over the past week, nearly 40 countries have recorded their highest single-day spike in new coronavirus cases, almost double the number from the previous week.
Apart from the worst-hit countries like the US, Brazil and India, moderately hit countries including Australia, Hong Kong, Sudan, Uzbekistan, and Israel saw their highest spike in cases.
In the past 24 hours, the Nepali Government has reported 130 new cases, taking the total number of positive cases in the country to 18,613. Meanwhile, 75 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the country.

Currently, 13,128 COVID-19 patients have recovered, and over 17,903 people are in various isolation centers across the country.
With the sudden spike in the coronavirus infection cases, the Biratnagar Metropolitan City has imposed restrictions on all services and activities except essential ones from today.
As many as 19 police personnel at the Provincial Police Office Rani in Biratnagar were infected from COVID-19.
“Out of 146 samples sent to the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, 19 came out with coronavirus positive result,” said SP Pokharel. “The new cases have been sent to Morang’s Gothgaun-based isolation hospital.”
The Internal Revenue Office in Nepalgunj has been closed as one of its revenue officers tested positive for coronavirus. The District Public Health Office has arranged for the PCR test of all people who have contacted the officer.
Preliminary tracing has shown that over 50 people have come into contact with the officer.
According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), one Nepali had died from coronavirus in the UK, taking the COVID-19 death toll of Nepalis abroad to 161.
So far, 31,150 Nepalis have tested positive for coronavirus infection in 36 different countries. Among then 29,243 have already recovered. The recovery rate of Nepalis abroad stands at over 93%.
However, the Nepali Government has rescued around 34,830 Nepalis from 25 different countries so far.
