]]>As per the District Police Office (DPO), the continuous thundershowers for the past few days made the river swell up in size.“Of them (the affected dwelling units), nine are cemented residences,” stated Rajan Adhikari, Superintendent of Police (SP) at the DPO.
Both the municipalities were earlier affected by another flood of the Melamchi around June 15.
The Rato bridge at Chanaute was swept away by the flash flood. The bridge collapsed early in the morning today, and that manmade structure was the only means of connection for Melamchi-7 and 8, Panchpokhari- 1 and 2, and various wards of Helambu.
As the bridge no longer exists, traffic movement in the area has halted. The flood also claimed the suspension bridge at Gyalthum.
SP Adhikari said that the bazaar of Gyalthum is also facing a high risk as the river continues to swell. Alarmingly, the river adopted a new course, and due to this new course, it claimed Talamarang Police Station.
The Chairman of Helambu Municipality stated that the flash flood swept away all the bridges above Melamchi bazaar. Melamchi Mayor Aryal soured the mood further by revealing multiple landslides have occurred Helambu-Melamchi corridor, and no vehicle could reach Melamchi from Helambu.

It has now hit the biggest roadblock as the administration which introduced it is no longer in charge of its implementation.
It is nebulous whether the new Prime Minister will go ahead with this budget and whether he would choose to implement the budget by clearing the legal hindrances.
However, judging by the signs, Sher might not revive the predecessor’s budget plan as all the ministers and staffers who worked for the Oli administration have been ejected from their posts.
From Attorney General Ramesh Badal to secretariat expert Bishnu Rimal, various people have been relieved from their official positions.
Security has been increased at Budhanilkantha as Sher takes charge as the Prime Minister of Nepal. Sher will head to Baluwatar after a short period.

]]>Nepal has launched the vaccination drive on January 27 after India sent one million vaccines to the Himalayan country. Among the vaccinated are frontline workers, which includes health professionals and sanitation workers.
The Nepal health ministry reported that only 2,604,866 are partially vaccinated as they received only their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The vaccination drive lost its steam when Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest COVID-19 manufacturer, reported that the company would not export any Covishield vaccines to any country before 2022.
This shortage made 1.4 million Nepali people wait for the second dose of the Covishield vaccine. Senior citizens aged over 65 are also among those people who are waiting for the booster jab.
Nepal is also sourcing vaccines from China’s Sinopharm. The vaccines are expected to arrive on Thursday as per the agreement signed between the Nepali government and the Chinese company.

Both the Asian countries signed an agreement that would have witnessed Nepal receiving 50,000 metric tonnes of urea. Additionally, Nepal would have already received the complete agriculture delivery.
However, due to the pandemonium caused by the contagion, Bangladesh sent the fertilizers now. The rest of the 5,000 metric tonnes, along with an added 2,000 metric tonnes, will be sent by Bangladesh in a week.
The timing of the fertilizer arrival was apt as the monsoon season has begun. The paddy plantation is initiated by the farmers across Nepal at this point in time.

Due to the irregular flight service of Thai Airways, the department signed an agreement with NAC designating the carrier as the official transport for international communications.
The department’s Director-General Aabha Shreshta Karna and NAC General Manager Dim Paudel signed the agreement, which will take effect from July 1.
Both the officials concurred that the deal would save millions of rupees that the Department of Postal Services paid to the Thai airline.
While NAC has been assigned to transport messages and packages to the world, Air India will continue to be Nepal’s messenger to India alone.
