Putting a stop to all the speculations floating around the examinations, the Nepali Government has canceled 2020 Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) on Wednesday.
All the Grade 10 students will be promoted to the next level by giving them grades based on their internal assessment marks.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting at the PM’s official residence on the conduct of SEE examinations at a time when the coronavirus pandemic is spreading continuously in the country.
According to the Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel, the National Examination Board will certify the students based on the results provided by their respective schools.
“Authorities concerned will disseminate detailed information regarding this decision,” said Minister Pokharel.
Earlier, the Education Ministry has proposed a new Education Bill to cancel the provision of SEE in Grade 10 and to take SEE in Grade 12. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs is yet to accept the proposal.
On March 19, 2020, the Nepali Government had postponed the SEE exams scheduled from March 20 in view of the risks posed by the coronavirus outbreak.
A total of 482,219 students were supposed to attend the SEE this year.
