In Khotang district, Nepal recorded a total tally of 2,081 coronavirus cases. However, out of this caseload, 1,654 people have achieved recovery.
The district health office head, Punya Sigdel, the recoveries were reported in 10 administrations. However, 9 people lost their lives while fighting the virus. With the recovery data, the active caseload of Khotang is 394 cases.
Tinging this positive development is skepticism about the government’s tests. It is perceived that the cases in this region have dropped as the government is not conducting a sufficient amount of coronavirus tests. Buttressing this skepticism is the resumption of daily activities which are not adhering to coronavirus safety protocols.
Punya stated that in Diktel Rupakot Municipality, there are 146 infections, 35 virus positive cases in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality, and 24 cases in Rawabesi Rural Municipality. However, forming the bulk of the active cases were the municipalities of Aiselukharka Rural and Khoteyhang Rural, which have 70 and 49 cases.
Unfortunately, 33 healthcare professionals have become infected with the virus. Also, of the 9 people who died due to the virus, 5 fatalities were recorded in Diktel Rupakot Municipality and one mortality each in Halesi Tuwachung, Aiselukharka Rural, Rawabesi Rural, and Kepilasgadhi Rural.
12 people are fighting the viral infection in institutional isolation. In addition, 382 infected people have restricted themselves to home isolation.
