Oman Welcomes Nepali Business Community

Nepal and Oman discussed bilateral ties and cooperation across various sectors at a meeting held in Oman on December 25, 2017.

In a meeting with the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry of Oman Ahmed Hassan Al-Dheeb, Nepali Ambassador to Oman Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal briefed about all the latest developments in Nepal across various fields.

According to a press release, Dhakal explained that Nepal is on path towards economic development through industrialization.

Dhakal also informed Nepal’s move towards policy reforms related to foreign investment, Public-Private Partnership (PPP), industrial enterprises, economy, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), labor, mining, Intellectual Property (IP), banking, FDI provisions and repatriation of industry and commerce and capital to encourage foreign capital and technological investment.

He further highlighted Nepal’s advantage of having duty-free market access in the EU and American markets for almost 66 Nepali products.

In response, Al-Dheeb expressed Oman’s willingness to collaborate with Nepal in various sectors related to industry and commerce.

Both the sides also discussed export-oriented industries in Nepal. The Omani official welcomed Nepali businesspersons to bring Nepali products to Oman.

In this regard, he also expressed his readiness for organizing a Oman-Nepal business conference to set up business interactions between Omani buyers and Nepali exporters and businessmen.

The two sides also discussed investment in various agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing and hydropower sectors of Nepal.
