The International Relations and Labor Committee of Nepali Legislature-Parliament on Thursday asked ambassadors to assess the status of Nepali migrant laborers in Malaysia.

In this regard, the Committee directed ambassadors to conduct a foreign employment assembly in the presence of the Malaysian ambassadors to Nepal.

The Committee made this instruction in its recent meeting with the Ministers for Home, Foreign Affairs and Labor departments.

The Labor and Foreign Affairs Ministries were also asked to sign a labor agreement with the concerned authorities in Malaysia with regard to sending Nepali laborers to Malaysia.

Besides implementing the agreement, the two ministries were also directed to develop related software, amend the Foreign Employment Act to suit the current needs, provide security and carry-out rescue operations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also asked to set up a monitoring mechanism at the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia.
