Marathoner Bhim Bahadur Gurung, who won the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon in 2015 and was a part of the Nepali team that won the prestigious 100-kilometer run Hong Kong Oxfam Trailwalkers for three years, was felicitated and inducted into the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon Hall of Fame on Thursday.
Gurung was victorious in two of the three World Series events that he participated in 2016. He won the 29-kilometer Yading Skyrun in China and 52-kilometer TROFEO KIMA 2016 in Italy. He also triumphed in three of the four World Series events that he entered this year, at Grand Paradiso, Tromso and Yading, and is leading the Extreme category of the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series 2017 with 205.6 points.
Shikhar Pandey, event manager of Everest Marathon said that, “We know what Mr. Bhim Gurung has been able to achieve in the international arena after winning the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon. We are proud to induct him into the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon – Hall of Fame”.
Gurung will be participating in the next Migu Run Skyrunner World Series event, Salomon Glen Coe Skyline, in Scotland on September 17.
