]]>Nepal inflicted a 7-wicket defeat on Oman in the ongoing tri-nation series as part of the ICC World Cup League-2 tournament.
Batting first after losing the toss, the Oman team collapsed for just 121 runs. In the match held at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Sunday, Oman scored just 121 runs losing all its wickets in 37.1 overs.
Oman’s team captain Zisan Maqsood is the highest scorer in the team. He made 41 runs, including two fours and one six, by playing 66 balls.
Clinical bowling performance by Nepal’s fast bowler Karan KC and spinner Sandeep Lamichhane paved way for the team’s victory.
Karan and Sandeep took 4 wickets each. Sharad Vesawkar took 2 wickets.
Chasing the 122-run target, the Himalayan team won the match in just 18.2 overs while losing only 3 wickets.
Captain Gyanendra Malla scored a brilliant half century. He garnered 52 runs, including 4 fours and 2 sixes, in just 46 balls. Likewise, opening batsman Aasif Sheikh scored 40 runs including 7 fours.
Bowler Karan KC won the Player of the Match award.
With this win, Nepal has climbed to 4th position from the previous 7th position. So far, the Himalayan team played 8 matches, winning 4 matches and losing 4.

]]>Afridi will be playing on behalf of the Kathmandu Kings XI in the T20 tournament scheduled to be held from September 25 to October 9 at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
The Pakistani legend will be seen playing alongside local star Sandeep Lamichhane in the nation’s domestic T20 competition.
The Kathmandu Kings-11 management announced the recruitment of all-rounder Afridi during a recent press conference.
“Looking forward to visiting Nepal and playing @eplt20official and for sure will visit some more places I hear have beauty like no other,” tweeted the 46-year-old Afridi. “This will be my first visit to Kathmandu. I am very excited and looking forward to visiting.”
“Welcome on board with Kathmandu Kings XI,” Lamichhane told Afridi in a video message at the launch of the team’s campaign.
“All the boys are really excited to see you here on the field. And I personally know you are going to have a great time during your visit to Nepal. Can’t wait to see you joining the team,” he added.

The Nepali will be playing for Oval Invincibles, and he will be paid £ 100,000 to play the match. He will be playing against Manchester Originals at the opening match. The match previously got delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
After this match, Sandeep will be playing in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after the match, said his manager.

Leg spinner Lamichhane initiated the campaign through Twitter with the hashtag “Team Sandeep Lamichhane.” In the tweet, he mentioned his bank account and appealed all to make contributions to the fund.
In the last 24 hours, Nepal has witnessed 9,198 new cases and 214 deaths. With this, the country’s coronavirus caseload reached 464,218, while the death toll stood at 5,215. Currently, there are 113,480 active cases and 345,523 recovery cases in the country.

]]>IPL 2020, which was initially scheduled to take place in India, is now being moved to the UAE due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Sandeep will be joining his Delhi Capitals team for the IPL 2020 season. The Nepali bowler has been with Delhi Capitals for two seasons and has played nine matches and took 13 wickets.
With his debut for Delhi in 2018, Sandeep became the first player in the history of Nepal to play in the Indian Premier League.
Delhi Capitals has retained Sandeep for NPR 3.2 million for the 2020 IPL season. Lamihhane’s team will play the first match in the tournament against Kings XI Punjab on September 20.

Earlier on July 30, Sandeep went to Trinidad and Tobago to play CPL 2020 for Jamaica Tallawahs. He played 11 matches in the tournament and took 12 wickets. Sandeep is named as the sixth player to take the most wickets in the CPL2020.
Jamaica hired him for USD 90,000 to play CPL.

]]>Lately, on Saturday, the Nepali leg spinner’s two-wicket haul helped his team Jamaica Tallawahs saunter to a clinical triumph over St. Kitts and Nevis.
In the match, Sandeep grabbed two wickets for 27 runs in four overs. With this, Sandeep’s wicket tally in the ongoing T20 tournament has reached nine.
After winning the toss, Jamaica opted to bat first and scored 147 runs for six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the 148 run- target, St. Kitts managed to score only 110 runs in 19.4 overs, losing all wickets.
Jamaica’s Carlos Brathwaite took three wickets for 11 runs in 3.4 overs, while Veerasammy Permaul and Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed two wickets each.
In the six matches played so far in the tournament, Jamaica won three matches and lost three. Now, Jamaica stands at the third position in the points table with six points.

The first match of the tournament would be between Sandeep’s team Jamaica Tallawah and Saint Lucia.
“I am very happy to get a chance to play cricket after a long gap following coronavirus pandemic,” said Sandeep.
Sandeep reached Trinidad and Tobago on a chartered flight of Korean Air on July 30 to play CPL. He underwent two PCR tests for coronavirus infection and tested negative.
All the 33 matches of the tournament will be played in front of empty stands amid the pandemic to ensure the players’ safety.
The final match will be held on September 10, 2020.

Lamichhane will be playing for the Birmingham Phoenix team in ‘The Hundred’ and Karnataka in the Abu Dhabi T10.
The Abu Dhabi T10 will be held from November 14-24, 2019, whereas The Hundred will begin in July 2020.
Spin-bowler Lamichhane will be payed Pound Sterling 100,000 for The Hundred and USD 45,000 for the Abu Dhabi T10.
