]]>The Nepal team gained a winning end despite a dull defeat on the first match of the T20I series.
Winning team Nepal secured a total score of 104-8 against UAE’s 90-8, winning the match by 14 runs!
A rare desert rain would be enough to dampen the mood for any match but not for Nepal who was focused on winning! The Nepali side waited for two hours and 15 minutes due to bad weather.
Soon after, they were ready to take on UAE and level the Nepal Vs UAE T20I scoreboard to 2-1!
And their efforts did pay off when team captain Paras Khadka and Karan KC-Abinash Bohara’s bowling partnership gave Nepal the desired-victory!
The final match of the Nepal-UAE T20I was reduced to 10 overs for each team owing to bad weather.
The game began in favor of UAE with captain Mohammad Naveen claiming Pawan Sarraf’s wicket at just the fourth ball of the match. Soon after which Gyanendra Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee lost wickets, leaving Nepal limping at a score of 21-3.
However, captain Khadka was quick to the rescue as always. With support from Jora, the duo took Nepal to the beginning of the final over. Amir Hayat’s strong defense in the 10th and final over sealed Nepal’s fate at 104.
UAE continued its success streak in batting too when Ghulam Shabber replied to Sandeep’s deliveries with a four and six, respectively off the first two balls!
Going along, UAE’s spirits continued to soar despite Ashfaq Ahmed’s fall at the end of the second over.
After Ahmed, Shaiman Anwar marked his arrival with a sixer off KC’s delivery and continued to fight Sompal Kami for another blaster towards the end of the fourth over, taking UAE to 50-1.
The Nepal team bowlers kept paving the way for catches and the fielders left no opportunity to convert them into wickets. With the task of securing 33 runs off the last three overs, Shaiman carefully began the eight over but was quickly bowled by Malla.
This wicket was followed by another five wickets from UAE in the next 14 deliveries! As the game continued, UAE struggled to maintain a strong front against Nepal’s railing attack.
Sultan Ahmed was the last to deliver a pair of twos off the last two balls, paving way for Nepal’s second significant victory against UAE, after the ODI series in January 2019!
Karan KC was honored with ‘Player of the Match’ for his double strike in the eight over. Likewise, Bohara was named ‘Man of the Series’ for delivering the most number of sixes in the series.
Congratulations Team Nepal!

]]>Nepal has produced one of the finest cricketers in the world cricket history and one of such legends is the Nepal Cricket Team Captain Paras Khadka! We all know how instrumental Khadka’s contribution has been in taking Nepali cricket to the level it is today.
Cricket is a craze in Nepal, after Football of course and has seen some new heights at the global level, majorly because of a few aspirants like Shakti Gauchan and Sandeep Lamichhane among others.
And, no doubt! Khadka’s role has always been instrumental!
Even before playing for the senior side, Kathmandu-based cricketer Khadka first represented Nepal at the U-15 Level, where he played in the Under-15 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates in December 2002.
This was followed by his participation in Nepal Under-19 cricket in 2003 against India and the 2003 Youth Asia Cup in Karachi. However, Khadka, an all-rounder player, started his main cricketing career with a match against Malaysia in the 2004 ICC Intercontinental Cup in April 2004, which established him as a ‘player of finesse’ and his first senior match was classified as ‘first-class debut’.
Khadka also leads the departmental side Armed Police Force (APF) in domestic cricket.
Khadka has registered a series of remarkable achievements and unforgettable games in his cricket journey. Here are some of them:
During his career as Nepal cricketer and team captain, Khadka was disappointed with the way the then Nepal cricketing body, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) was functioning. In May 2010, he raised a boycott along with 18 member national cricket team and declared that they will not play the national league.
This was followed by another boycott in 2014 which stressed on restructuring CAN and provision of better facilities for the players. The two successive boycotts led to the dissolution of CAN and its implication into a controversy of financial mismanagement.
Fortunately, Nepali Cricket has seen some glorious days and will continue to do so under the able leadership of Paras Khadka! All The Best!

]]>The logo for the upcoming tournament was unveiled by National cricket team coach Jagat Tamata and captain Paras Khadka.
Scheduled between October 26 and November 6, 2018, the event will showcase some old and new franchises and witness the participation of six city-based franchise teams. An auction will be held to select players for the league, Queen Event Management (QEM) Chhumbi Lama told media persons at the launch event.
Gearing up for the Tournament!
Claiming it to be the biggest of its kind, Lama says, “It will be done in a highly professional manner. We are planning to bring in a pitch curator from India to prepare the pitch. There will be auction of cricketers and we ensure that it is going to be the best Twenty20 league of the country.”
Currently, the Pokhara Cricket Ground (PCG) is not in good shape but the management is keen on having the match at the said location. Lama points that making the ground ready by the due date is their biggest challenge. The franchises have decided to create fan clubs of which fans can travel and stay at Pokhara at an attractive fee to ensure that the stadium witnesses a huge fan base during the tournament.
Emphasizing on the importance and magnitude of this event, Nepal Cricket Team Captain, Paras Khadka says, “This is another good beginning for us. We are getting tournaments at different part of the country. This is no doubt a big boost for players but getting a tournament of this magnitude in a place like Pokhara is a good initiation towards making the city a cricketing hub.”
Junior PPL to Walk in ahead of Senior
In another interesting initiative by QEM, Pokhara will host the U-16 Junior PPL in Kathmandu ahead of the PPL tournament. The PPL franchises will form the teams for the ‘Junior PPL’. The final match for this tournament will be held in Pokhara.
The PPL is an addition to the existing leagues of ‘high fame’, Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL) and Everest Premier League (EPL). With an offering of Rs 2.5 million for the winning team, the DPL is the highest cashed prized cricket tournament so far.
