]]>According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), the Israeli Government has selected 1,175 Nepali job seekers, including 821 women and 354 men.
In January 2021, Nepal and Israel signed an ‘Implementation Protocol’ for the implementation of ‘Agreement related to temporary employment of Nepali workers in the labor market of Israel’.
As per the agreement, the Israeli Government has made public the list of 1,175 Nepalis selected for employment in their country.
The shortlisted Nepali youths will get the opportunity to work as caregivers and in hospitals, nursing homes, and daycare centers.
Israel is one of the most lucrative foreign employment destinations for Nepalis. The Middle Eastern nation provides most of the jobs related to caregivers.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Tel Aviv, there are around 2,500 Nepalis working in Israel.

Nepalis who want to return home can now register their name and provide other relevant details in the official website of the Department of Consular.

The Nepali Government also sent diplomatic requests to the US, UK, Canada, Germany, EU, Japan, and the UN to rescue Nepalis working with diplomatic missions and international organizations in Kabul.
The Nepali Embassy in New Delhi has already issued a travel advisory requesting Nepalis to avoid any travel to Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the MoFA has been collaborating with manpower agencies sending Nepalis to Afghanistan to gather reliable data of nationals living in the troubled country to facilitate their repatriation.

]]>The supplies were flown to Nepal on Thursday afternoon from London. Also, 10 oxygen concentrators were added to the shipment by Non-Resident Nepalis Association, UK, and Nepali Embassy in London.
The Nepali Embassy in London is continuing its efforts to draw in medical supplies and vaccines from the UK government.
The Nepali envoy, Lok Darshan Regmi, met the Secretary of State for Defense and Secretary of State of Foreign for bilateral assistance to fight the pandemic. Regmi indicated that the results of these meetings would materialize soon.

]]>“The patient is under surveillance and her health condition is said to be normal at present,” said Dr Bikash Devkota, Ministry of Health and Population Spokesperson.
“Her throat swab was brought to National Public Health Laboratory for test. The test result, which came out on March 28, 2020, showed she was COVID-19 positive,” added Dr Devkota.
The Belgium returnee had boarded the same flight from Qatar with the 19-year-old Nepali student from France who had earlier tested positive for COVID-19.
Both had arrived to Nepal through a Qatar Airways’ QR 652 flight on March 17.
All the five coronavirus cases in Nepal are imported. Four patients are currently undergoing treatment while one has already recovered and discharged.
So far, the Nepali Government tested a total of 875 coronavirus suspects, out of which 870 tested negative while 5 have come out positive for the contagion.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Canberra, eight Nepali students in Australia have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus.
However, the Nepali from Tasmania has already recovered and discharged.
So far, the coronavirus has spread to 199 countries and territories around the world and infected 722,350 people while claiming 33,980 lives.
The USA became the new coronavirus hotspot with 142,178 infection cases and 2,484 death cases.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus has inflicted a perilous impact on Italy by claiming 10,779 lives, the highest number of coronavirus deaths in the world. Italy has reported 97,689 COVID-19 infection cases so far.
However, China has almost recovered from the coronavirus outbreak. Surprisingly, the country has reported only 31 new COVID-19 infection cases in the last 24 hours.

]]>The government has imposed travel restrictions in response to the alarming rise in coronavirus cases in South Korea.
According to the EPS, the 50 Nepalis, who were supposed to fly to South Korea on March 1, should wait till the third week of March.
The Nepali Government has been sending Nepalis to South Korea under the Employment Permit System. About 40,000 Nepali migrant workers, 2,500 students and around 1,000 other Nepalis are currently living in South Korea.
The Nepali Embassy in South Korea has requested Nepalis to be safe from contracting coronavirus by adopting measures disseminated by the Korean Government and health agencies.
The Korean Government has raised its coronavirus alert to the highest level today, as the cases are increasing rapidly. So far, South Korea reported over 760 coronavirus cases and 7 deaths.
China, the epicenter of coronavirus outbreak, has reported 77,150 confirmed cases and 2,592 death cases.
At least 30 other countries have reported coronavirus infection cases. There are 27 death cases and around 2000 confirmed cases outside China.

]]>Earlier on February 1, 2020, the Nepali Embassy in China had asked the Nepali citizens in Hubei Province to fill an evacuation form and send it to the Embassy before 9:00 am on February 2, 2020.
According to the Nepali Embassy in China, around 180 Nepalis from various cities in Hubei Province have appealed for evacuation from China. They include:

Around 10 Nepalis working in Hubei Province have not applied for evacuation, according to the Embassy.
The Nepali Embassy said that a chartered Nepal Airlines Corporation aircraft will be arranged for the evacuation of the applied Nepalis on February 5, 2020 via Wuhan Tianhe International Airport.
Before boarding the chartered flight, the Nepali nationals will have to undergo a medical check-up in China. If any one is tested positive for coronavirus, they will be restricted to travel to Nepal and are supposed to undergo treatment in China.
The Nepali Government has decided to isolate the evacuees for at least 15 days before sending them home. They are yet to finalize a location to quarantine the evacuees.
Apart from evacuation plans, the Nepali Government is also taking steps across its borders to prevent the entry of corona virus infection into the country.
A health desk has been set up at Jamunaha, the transit point at the Nepal-India border in Banke district, to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus.
The people coming to Nepal through this transit point will undergo a health screening to check for coronavirus infection.
The coronavirus death toll in China has reached 361, with 17,238 confirmed infection cases, as of today, i.e., February 3, 2020.
Around 150 confirmed cases have been reported in at least 23 other countries with one death case in the Philippines.

The Deputy Tourism Minister of Malaysia YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtar bin Wan Chik handed over the award to Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia Uday Raj Pandey, at a special function at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on November 22, 2019.
Ministers of different departments, members of the royal family, CEOs of reputed organizations, business tycoons were among others present at the award ceremony.

]]>The International Relations and Labor Committee of Nepali Legislature-Parliament on Thursday asked ambassadors to assess the status of Nepali migrant laborers in Malaysia.
In this regard, the Committee directed ambassadors to conduct a foreign employment assembly in the presence of the Malaysian ambassadors to Nepal.
The Committee made this instruction in its recent meeting with the Ministers for Home, Foreign Affairs and Labor departments.
The Labor and Foreign Affairs Ministries were also asked to sign a labor agreement with the concerned authorities in Malaysia with regard to sending Nepali laborers to Malaysia.
Besides implementing the agreement, the two ministries were also directed to develop related software, amend the Foreign Employment Act to suit the current needs, provide security and carry-out rescue operations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also asked to set up a monitoring mechanism at the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia.
