]]>The Himalayan nation has qualified for the Final Round by virtue of being the fourth-placed team in Group B of the Joint Qualifiers of World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023.
On Wednesday, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed 22 teams that have been qualified for the 24-team AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers Final Round.
The 22 teams include 3 of the lowest-ranked second-placed teams, all 8 third and fourth-placed teams, and 3 best fifth-placed teams in the Joint Qualifiers.
The remaining four teams ranked 36 to 39 will participate in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers play-offs scheduled on September 7 and October 12, 2021.
Nepal secured fourth position in Group B, behind Australia, Kuwait, and Jordan. Nepal played eight matches, won 2, lost 6, and secured 6 points.

]]>Nepal made another important milestone in the ongoing Fifth SAFF Women’s Championship 2019. Nepali football team had moved to semi-finals after a win against Bangladesh.
Continuing with the pace, the Himalayan nation made a face-off with Sri Lanka in the semi-final match at Shahid Rangashala on March 20, 2019.
The semi-final match saw Nepal defeating out Sri Lanka and securing its place in the finals of the championship. Sri Lankan team, despite its efforts at the start, failed to withstand Nepali team’s sudden fight-back at 42nd minute by Puna Jargha Magar.
This continued further and Nepal performed extremely well in the last 20 minutes of the match with Anita Basnet’s goal at 73rd minute giving the team a 2-0 lead.
Sabitri Bhandari and Rekha Paudel scored one each.
At the end of the match, Nepal finished at 4-0 against Lanka, securing its place in the finals of 5th SAFF Championship.
Hope the team will continue the spirit and grab the championship title with a far more better performance in the finals.
In a recent update, Nepal bagged another victory in the form of ongoing fifth SAFF Women’s Championship 2019 campaign. Nepal registered a 3-0 victory over Bangladesh in the 5th SAFF Women’s Football Championship Semis!
The Himalayan nation took the lead after team member Masura Prabhin secured a goal in the 6th minute of the game. The successive goal was then taken by Sabitra Bhandari in the 23rd minute, soon followed by the winning shot by Manjali Kumari Yonzon in the 28th minute.
This victory made Nepal the winners of the Group A side.
Nepali SAFF team made a winning start with 3-0 win against Bhutan in the first match of the SAFF Women’s Championship held at the Sahid Rangasala in Biratnagar on March 12, 2019.
Nepal began to take on the opponents right from the start with the first scoring by Midfielder Yonjan at the at 13th minute.
Striker Bhandari later picked up the pace and scored 2-0 later. This gave 23rd international goal for Bhandari making her stand third among the all-time highest scorers behind Anu Lama (35) and Jamuna Gurung (25).
The third goal for Nepali team came at the 55th minute with Skipper Thapa making a finishing shot.
“We did not get the score as expected. We had expected to score at least six goals against Bhutan. Although we created frequent scoring chances, we failed to make full use of them,” Nepal’s head coach Hari Khadka said in a statement.
Rekha Paudel made her international debut in the Nepali team with the Tuesday’s match.
It is noteworthy Nepal had performed in a much better way against Bhutan in earlier matches. The team registered 8-0 win twice against Bhutan in the group stages in 2014 and 2016 editions of the SAFF tournament.
This win pushed Nepali team a step ahead in the semi-finals from the three-team ‘Group A’ alongside Bangladesh.
Now, Nepal is scheduled to take on Bangladesh on March 16, 2019. But prior to that Bangladesh will play a match with Bhutan on March 14, 2019.

]]>In the finals of the SAFF group stage matches, Nepali football team thrashed Bangladeshi team for a sounding victory that confirmed their place in semi-finals of the SAFF Championship.
The match held in Bangabandhu National Stadium of Dhaka on September 08, 2018 saw Nepal’s win over Bangladesh for a 2-0 score.
Though the Bangladeshi team made a good start that continued till 30th minute, it was Nepali mid-fielder Bimal Gharti Magar and Nawayug Shrestha who changed the game later and the Nepal’s position in the tournament all together.
Magar hit the first goal at 33rd minute giving a boost to Nepal, and Shrestha balanced it at the end hitting another at 90th minute, driving the team to victory.
It was a hard game for us. Playing against the home team is always difficult but we stuck to the plan and emerged successfully. The morale of the players was high ever since our win against Bhutan. The first goal was a mistake by the goalkeeper and it happens in football. I am extremely proud of the boys. We were caught in the end, but we had to go forward because we had to stay in the competition. Two wins and beating Pakistan was a highlight for us. Prior to this, Nepal had to beat Bhutan to qualify for this match that earned it chance to enter semi-finals.
Now, Nepal is at the top-2 in the Group after Pakistan and will next play runners-up of Group B on September 12, 2018. Group B already has India, Sri Lanka and Maldives teams.

]]>In a recently-held football tournament, the non-resident Nepali football team registered a grand victory against Sri Lanka in a match held as part of the Sixth Asian Non-Resident Football Tournament.
In a match held in the Sports Stadium, the Nepali team beat Sri Lanka for 2-0 and secured its position in the semi-final round of the tournament.
Shiva Shrestha and Rakesh Saapkota drove the team to success with stunning goals with Shiva hitting his goal in the sixth minute of the second half of the match and Rakesh in the 19th minute.
Skipper Shiva Shrestha was declared the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
“The semi-final is crucial for us. We are eyeing the trophy this season,” says Sanjeev Ranabhat, Chairperson of Nepali football team.
The Nepali team will now play the semi-final match on March 22, 2018 against the winner of the Lebanon-Bangladesh match, which is yet to happen.

]]>In the opening match of the football tournament, Nepal faced Bangladesh driving the latter to lose the game at a score of 2-0.
The match held at Doha Stadium saw outstanding performance by Nepali Striker Indra Jung Limbu who gave a dashing start hitting a goal in the very first five minutes of the match.
And, the second goal at the 23rd minute of the game was hit by Arjun Subba.
Bhakta Bhandari played a significant role, by passing on balls, behind the goals of both the players.
Meanwhile, the match with Japan saw a winning performance of Nepali football team against the Japanese football team at 2-0.
The match with Japan, held at Al-Markhiya Stadium, saw outstanding performances by Arjun Subba and Shiba Shrestha.
Nepali football team’s next match with Lebanon has been scheduled for February 8, 2018, the fourth match against Singapore on February 15, 2018, and the fifth match with Indonesia on March 1, 2018.
All the next three matches have been scheduled to be held at Doha Stadium.
Nepali football team comprises of Captain Shiva Shrestha, Arjun Subba, Indra Jung Limbu, Bhakta Bhandari, Pasang Sherpa, Milan Thapa, Anil Dhimal, Pawan Napit, Dipak Sonar, Dawa Lama, Bikesh Bhandari, Ganesh Khadka, Dipak Sonar and Bharat Dital.
There are two groups in the tournament. Group A includes India, Jordan, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and South Korea while Group B includes Nepal, Lebanon, Indonesia, Japan, Bangladesh and Singapore.

]]>The football world cup, titled 2018 Street Child World Cup, will be held during May 19-27, 2018 in Moscow, Russia.
Apart from the Nepali football team in the Boys category, this football tournament will feature 24
U-17 football teams, 12 each in Boys and Girls categories, from 22 countries.
A Nepal-based NGO Shelter Ashraya Nepal has taken this initiative to present the Nepali football on a global platform.
The candidates were finalized based on a three-day selection tournament held among 14 teams of 15 institutions, who have been offering shelter to orphans and street children, in Kathmandu in September 2017.
“The selected players are undergoing training with the All Nepal Football Association’s (ANFA) assistance. We believe the players will represent whole Nepal in the World Cup rather than specific institutions,” says Khusbu Oli, President, Shelter Ashraya.
According to Oli, the football team Head Coach Rajan Neupane and ANFA Coach Nabin Maharjan have also appreciated the final team.
The Nepali team, with other five reserved players, has Aron Karki as the goalkeeper and Manbir Lama and Bikash Timsina as the defenders.
Ramesh Shah, Sachin BK Rohan Bhusal, Santosh Khatri, Harsha Thakuri and Pawan Shahi are among other key players.
Around 200 street-connected children from various parts of the world will come together in Moscow for this international football tournament, which also includes festival of arts and Congress for their rights.

(two against age-group teams of top-tier Japanese clubs and three against University and local teams), watch a J-League match and undergo training camp.
This move by the Nepali team is coming after an invite by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan Football Association under the Sports for Tomorrow project.
Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa informed that Japan is supporting more than 100 countries through Sports for Tomorrow project prior to 2020 Olympics.
Ogawa urged Nepali team to implement the skills they learn in Japan in their upcoming match with Tajikistan.
“The tour will be really helpful ahead of the Tajikistan match. Playing against better opponents in Japan will help strengthen our mind set. We have several young players and they will gain valuable exposure,” said Nepali football team skipper Anil Gurung in a farewell event organized by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday.
Nepali football team is all set to face Tajikistan team on September 5 in their third Group ‘F’ match of the Asia Cup Qualifiers.
