]]>The post PM Deuba Withdraws His Predecessor Oli’s Decision to Appoint 11 Ambassadors! appeared first on Nepali Sansar.
]]>A cabinet meeting of the new government held on Friday made the decision to this effect.
Earlier, before his dethroning, Oli was planning to appoint 11 ambassadors after 45 days of the recommendation, even in the absence of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee after the dissolution of the House of Representatives. On the same lines, KP Oli had appointed various officials in various constitutional bodies.
According to the Parliamentary Laws, any appointment subject to the hearing can be endorsed if the Hearing Committee fails to give a concrete decision in 45 days.
However, the then Oli-led government misinterpreted those appointments can be made after the period even when the Hearing Committee did not exist.
With the reinstatement of the HoR, the Deuba-led government had rejected Oli’s decision to appoint the ambassadors even though the Hearing Committee has also been revived.
Unfortunately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already sent letters to the concerned nations requesting agreements in the listed names to make appointments as soon as the 45 days are completed.

]]>The post MoFA Clarifies PM Oli’s Controversial Remarks on Ayodhya! appeared first on Nepali Sansar.
]]>Issuing a statement on July 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) stated that the Nepali Government has taken note of the ‘interpretations’ of the remarks by the PM on the occasion of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya’s birth anniversary.
The MoFA has clarified that PM Oli’s intentions were only to cite the need for further research on related facts about Ayodhya and Rama.
“The remarks made by the Prime Minister are not linked to any political subject and have no intention at all to hurt the feeling and sentiment of anyone,” reads the press statement.
“As there have been several myths and references about Shri Ram and the places associated with him, the Prime Minister was simply highlighting the importance of further studies and research of the vast cultural geography the Ramayana represents to obtain facts about Shri Ram, Ramayana and the various places linked to this rich civilization,” stated MoFA.
“The remarks were not meant to debasing the significance of Ayodhya and the cultural value it bears,” added MoFA.
The Ministry further reiterated the significance of honored cultural affinity between Nepal and India.
Earlier on Monday, PM Oli made an off-the-mark comment claiming that India is manipulating cultural and historical facts by creating a fake Ayodhya, which in fact lies in the west of Birgunj.
PM Oli’s controversial remarks came at a time when the diplomatic relations between Nepal and India were at a delicate stage over border issues.

]]>Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali confirmed Rai’s appointment as Ambassador and Nepal’s PR to United States in New York at the Cabinet meeting on January 07, 2019.
The is an important diplomatic position for Nepal and has been vacant ever since the former Nepal Permanent Representative Durga Prasad Bhattarai was sent home following his extended tenure.
Rai is a career diplomat and has served as Nepalese Ambassador to South Africa since December 2014.
Going by the usual trend, recent ambassadorial nominations have been based on the candidates seniority.
However, this appointment seems conspicuous and raises questions as to why the government chose Rai over senior-most joint secretary and Ministry spokesperson in Kathmandu, Bharat Raj Paudyal.
Meanwhile, following the trend of nominating joint secretaries as ambassadors, Nepal is going to face a crunch of joint secretaries in the coming months.
Two weeks ago, the government recommended ambassadors from among career diplomats to five countries including Canada, France, Kuwait, Thailand and Switzerland.
The cabinet meeting also decided to recall Nepali ambassadors to Bangladesh, South Korea and Spain appointed by the former Sher Bahadur Deuba-led cabinet.
Arjun Jung Bahadur Singh from South Korea, Bharat Bahadur Rayamajhi from Spain and Professor Dr Chop Lal Bhushal were recalled from Bangladesh.

]]>“The human rights council is one the busiest platforms among UN that convenes meetings every day. Considering the workload, we have decided to reinforce two diplomats exclusively to attend the meetings and cover the events in Geneva,” said Bharat Raj Paudyal, Spokesperson, Nepali Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
According to Paudyal, Joint Secretary Tirtha Raj Wagle and the Under-Secretary Ram Prasad Subedi have already been appointed for taking up new assignments in Geneva.
“To fulfill our responsibility as a member, we have decided to enforce additional manpower. Besides other regular works, the council also focuses on pressing human rights issues that call for some dedicated officials to attend in the meetings,” informed Paudyal.
This move by MoFA Nepal is aimed at managing workload following Nepal’s recent election to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the 2018-20 term.
Securing 166 votes, the highest in the Asia-Pacific Group, Nepal gained UNHRC membership in New York in the last week of October 2018.
