Nepal Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi invited Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs Maurice Gourdault for a visit to Kathmandu on the occasion. The two sides covered topics pertaining to bilateral, multilateral, regional and mutual interest issues.

They also stressed on the need to look at the future and address common global challenges including climate change, development issues such as access to digitalization and environment, investment, trade & tourism and threat to multilateralism among others.

Nepal-France 70^th Anniversary Celebrations

Nepal and France marked the 70^th Anniversary of their bilateral cooperation by unveiling a number of special programs for future.

In view of the 70th Anniversary celebrations, French Embassy in Kathmandu and Nepal Ministry of Foreign Affairs will organize a number of programs in 2019.

Events such as debate competitions, discussion programs, drawing competitions, fashion show, literary programs, music festivals, taste of France and honoring a few French mountaineers will be conducted as part of the 70^th Anniversary celebrations.

Miss Nepal 2018 Appointed Goodwill Ambassador

On the occasion, Nepal and France also appointed Miss Nepal 2018 Shrinkhala Khatiwada as a Goodwill Ambassador to take ahead Nepal-France ties.

According to a joint press release, Khatiwada was called upon to convey a message of goodwill, friendship and cooperation between Nepal and France. French representative Gourdault-Montagne and Nepal Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi jointly presented the letter of appointment to Khatiwada.

A special commemorative logo designed by Ecole student Victor Hugo and Manjushree Vidyapith Aayush Kunwar was also launched at the press briefing.

Ahead of the 67^th Miss Universe beauty pageant grand finale on December 17, 2018, the Miss Universe 2018 National Costume Contest was held at Nongnooch International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pattaya, Chonburi province of Thailand on
December 10, 2018.

Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha welcomed the Miss Universe organizers and contestants to the country on December 10, 2018 and offered them a tour of Government House.

The Miss Universe delegation included Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart and Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Gen Prayut said the beauty contest was beyond physical appearance, reflecting the inner beauty of the contestants. In this regard, he urged the Miss Universe Thailand 2018 Sophida Kanchanarin to be a good host for the upcoming grand finale event.

Sushant Kaji Shrestha Wins Mister Internet Popularity:
Nepal’s heart-throb Sushant Kaji Shrestha bagged the special  title Mister Internet Popularity at the ‘Man of the Year 2018’ pageant.

The charming lad was also successful in taking home other titles like Loo Chang Huat Model, Gold Haute Couture Model and Siam House Village Best Model.

To add to his list of attractive titles, he emerged as bronze medalist in Best Medalist in Best Vigor and Wildlife Photo Shoot Challenge as part of the Man of the Year 2018 pageant held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Shrestha is a Civil Engineering student from White House Institute of Science & Technology. Currently, he is a co-founder at Kaji Trading Co. Ltd., an online store.

Ayachu becomes Nepal’s new young beauty queen to win a crown. Amidst all the lights and glam at the 16^th Kid Queen Nepal, Achayu stood enjoying the limelight along with the runners-up. Shrestha also won the title of ‘Best Dress’.

The event was organized by Nepalese Fashion Home at the Rastriya Sava Griha. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Hari Prava Khadgi was invited as the Chief Guest for the event.

Priya Rani to Represent Nepal:
In the latest update, Nepal’s Priya Rani Lama is all set to represent her country at an international pageant, ‘Face of Beauty International 2018’.

The event is scheduled to begin on September 7, 2018 at the Indian capital, New Delhi. 28-year old Priya is a TV Presenter at Nepal 1 Television and Goodwill Ambassador for Sakshyam Foundation.

This will be Priya’s fourth appearance at a beauty pageant after her participation in Miss Purwanchal 2010, where she was conferred first runner-up.  Rani has also participated in Miss Nepal 2010 and Miss Nepal 2015.

Following the announcement of this 23^rd edition of Nepal’s largest nationwide beauty pageant, beauty hunt began across the country and has drawn a huge response.

In a recent update, the organizer of the event Hidden Treasure came up with an update on the number of contestants finalized for the competition.

According to The Hidden Treasure (THT), a total of 25 contestants from eight different cities including Kathmandu, Chitwan, Pokhara, Butwal, Nepalganj, Butwal and Dhangadi are going to compete in this national beauty contest in April.

“The competition will be tougher this time…We have beautiful, smart and intelligent participants not only from within Nepal but also those who have been residing abroad for a while,” says Gopal Sunder Lal Kakshapati, THT Chairman.

Miss Nepal means a lot for the contestants to shine at both national and global levels as the contestants for the international beauty pageants will be selected based on this national beauty contest.

The contestants are currently undergoing week-long training sessions, which includes recreational trips to Pokhara and surrounding areas along with a visit to tourism hub of Ghandruk.

As every year, Miss Nepal 2018 will also see four beauty titles including Miss Nepal Universe, Miss Nepal World, Miss Nepal Earth and Miss Nepal International, and the contest for Miss Nepal Asia Pacific is yet to be announced.

The grand finale of the Miss Nepal 2018 event will be held in Kathmandu on April 11, 2018.

In a recent update, Nepal’s renowned organization for beauty pageants, The Hidden Treasure (THT), announced the 23^rd edition of the country’s largest nationwide beauty pageant Miss Nepal 2018.

“The pageant will provide young women a lifetime of opportunity to begin their journey of becoming celebrities and role-models by winning the coveted top four titles and bringing international crowns home,” THT said in a statement.

The audition for this national beauty contest has been planned at different locations including Birgunj, Birtamod, Dhangadi, Dharan, Chitwan, Pokhara, Butwal and Nepalgunj during February 4-10, 2018.

The final round of the audition, to be held in Kathmandu on February 17, 2018, will see 25 finalists who will further undergo a rigorous training before a grand finale at Hotel De Annapurna in Kathmandu on April 11, 2018.

At the end of the season, four finalists will be chosen to represent the nation across international beauty pageants including Miss World 2018, Miss Universe 2018, Miss Earth 2018 and Miss International 2018.

It is noteworthy that Nepal has recently made its participation in key international beauty contests, wherein, the country’s Miss World contestant Nikita Chandak won a direct entry into the Top 30 of the global beauty pageant.

Nagma Shrestha is another key Nepali contestant who contested for the 66th Miss Universe contest held at Las Vegas, USA on November 26, 2017.
