On the occasion, NSC introduced the lifetime allowance of Rs 3000 for July-August period to all the 80 Olympians who participated since Nepal’s debut with the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games.

NSC also presented NPR 4 million– Rs 5000 per month, each to 95 South Asian Games gold medal winners during the last eight months of the previous fiscal year.

Similarly, eight Asian Games medal winners also received the allowance of Rs 5000 per month.

112 medal winners were rewarded with Rs 1.92 million for their achievements at national and international tournaments in the previous fiscal year.

Additionally, the ‘best players’ of the NSC Championship were rewarded with cash prizes. 58 players, two each from 29 sports disciplines were presented with Rs 15,000 each.

Four Taekwondo players who had been best players in Kyorugi and Poomsae respectively were rewarded with Rs 7500.

Rewarding the Inspiring

• Santosh Bista, the designer of logo and mascot of the 8th National Games, was awarded Rs 80,000
• Theme songwriter Narayan Khatiwada received Rs 25,000
• NSC also awarded NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista for slogan of the games with Rs 5,000
• Musician Basanta Sapkota was honored with ‘Letter of Felicitation’
• Ministry of Youth and Sports Felicitates Athletes

The Nepal Youth and Sports Ministry also used this occasion to felicitate five athletes and two journalists who won international championships under its Sports Awards and Felicitation Work Procedures.

• Anisha Khadka and Rahul Thokar Lama were rewarded with Rs 100,000 each for winning gold medals at the Khun Khmer Championship in Cambodia
• Nanita Maharjan was presented with Rs 65,000 for a silver medal at the 9^th World Bodybuilding Championship held in Mongolia
• Rujesh Shahi at Mongolia and lifter Kamal Bhandari who won bronze at 51^st Asian Weightlifting Championship, South Korea were awarded Rs 35,000 each
• Sports journalists from Nepal TV and BBC, Raju Silwal and Niranjan Rajbanshi were presented Rs 50,000 and a ‘Letter of Felicitation’ each
• Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ishwor Pokhrel, Youth and Sports Minister Jagat Bahadur Sunar, Secretary Mohan Prakash Sapkota and NSC Member Secretary Bista were also among other felicitated athletes and journalists
