]]>The Government of Nepal tabled a bill in the Legislature-Parliament on Monday pertaining to the remuneration and other facilities for the President and the Vice President. The bill proposes to provide a monthly salary of Rs 150,450 for the President and Rs 108,030 for the Vice President in addition to several other perks and allowances.
The bill also proposes to prohibit legal action against the Head of State and his deputy for their acts while in service.
As per clause 16 of the bill, which was tabled by Labor Minister Farmullah Mansoor, “No cases shall be filed in any court of the country against the President and Vice President while in office or after retirement for their acts done as the head or deputy head of state.” However, the bill does not exempt the filing of cases for any acts committed by them while not in service.
None of the lawmakers expressed any reservations to the bill. The bill was registered in the House by the previous government headed by Pushpa Kamal Dahal in May 2017.
