Nepal\u2019s preliminary National Economic Census 2018 report<\/a> is out! Interestingly, the figures so far establishes Nepal as a \u2018hub for 900K businesses\u2019.<\/p>\n These figures were obtained after a rigorous two-month survey conducted by Nepal\u2019s Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). However, the final report is expected to be published by January 2019.<\/p>\n The survey was initiated with an aim to collected important statistics from all establishments in Nepal<\/a> and assess the country\u2019s economic situation<\/a>.<\/p>\n Pramod Raj Regmi, CBS information officer says that the studies show that there are about 900,000 factories in Nepal including micro-enterprises and large production plants.<\/p>\n What does the Study Aim to Find Out?<\/strong> Organizations Covered in the Survey:<\/strong> However, the study has not collected data from international organizations, embassies, multilateral institutions, the defense sector, public administration, social security schemes, household-produced goods and services, street vendors and sectors like agriculture, fishery and forestry.<\/p>\n Regmi explains that the reason agriculture was excluded because the CBS has been conducting Agricultural Census every 10 years.<\/p>\n The Data Collection Process<\/strong>: Regmi says the officials collected data from 300 municipalities through the internet.<\/p>\n Japan International Co-operation Agency assisted Nepal Government in conducting the country\u2019s first economic census.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Nepal\u2019s preliminary National Economic Census 2018 report is out! \nThis data will help in the following ways:<\/p>\n\n
\nUnder the survey, CBS collected data from all private state-owned enterprises, cooperatives, NGOs and some other institutions including temples, political organizations and foreign setups\u2019 branch offices.<\/p>\n
\n4,000 CBS statisticians were assigned with the task of collecting data.\u00a0Each person had to cover 15 establishments in urban areas and 8 establishments in rural areas, on a per day basis.<\/p>\n
