Following a long-pending vacancy, the Nepal Government is considering Nilkantha Upreti as the new Nepali Ambassador to India.<\/p>\n
Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali informed that a Cabinet meeting held on July 16, 2018 decided to recommend Upreti as the new Nepali envoy to India.<\/p>\n
To further this process, Upreti\u2019s name will be sent for approval to a Parliamentary committee.<\/p>\n
Post the committee\u2019s \u2018approval\u2019, it will be forwarded to Nepal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) which will then send it to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for an agreemo.<\/p>\n
Upreti is being considered as a replacement to Deep Kumar Upadhyay, who resigned in October 2017 to contest for the Nepal Federal Parliamentary Elections 2017.<\/p>\n

\nNilkantha Upreti has served as Nepal\u2019s Election Commissioner and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC 2013). After serving as officiating CEC for over four years, Upreti became full-time Nepal CEC in 2017.<\/p>\n
