October 04, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n Nepal marked Gandhi Jayanthi, 148th<\/sup> birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, at a function held at Nepal-Bharat library in Kathmandu on October 2, 2017.<\/p>\n Amid hundreds of attendees, the former Nepali Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand launched the Nepali edition of Gandhi\u2019s autobiography on the occasion.<\/p>\n The release function of the book titled The Story of My Experiments With Truth<\/em>, translated by Shekhar Giri and published by Shivalik Prakashan, witnessed participation of more than 150 Nepali writers, artists, media and intellectuals, among others.<\/p>\n The program was jointly organized by the Embassy of India and BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation.<\/p>\n In his address, Chand recalled the role of Gandhi in Indian freedom struggle and called him \u2018the icon of world peace\u2019, informed the Embassy statement.<\/p>\n Lawmaker and well-known Gandhian Pradeep Giri and the Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri lauded the role of Gandhiji.<\/p>\n Ambassador Puri commended the Vice President of Nepal-India Friendship Association Shekhar Giri for his efforts towards translation of the Gandhiji\u2019s iconic autobiography.<\/p>\n The members of renowned organization Kalaguthi and the students of well-known Gandhian of Nepal Late Tulasi Mehar demonstrated fabric production from \u2018Charkha\u2019.<\/p>\n A collection of rare photographs displaying Gandhiji\u2019s life events, books and a documentary on Gandhiji\u2019s life were also exhibited at the event.<\/p>\n Ardent follower of Gandhiji Uma Jee sang the famous hymn of Gandhiji Baishanab Jan to tene kahiye jo peer parai jane re.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" October 04, 2017 Nepal marked Gandhi Jayanthi, 148th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, at a function…<\/span><\/p>\nIcon of World Peace, Says Chand<\/h4>\n
