September 12, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n National football goalkeeper Kiran Kumar Limbu and shuttler Nangsal Devi Tamang are the best players of the year, declared the 14th<\/sup> edition of Nepal Journalists Forum (NSJF) Pulsar Sports Award in Kathmandu, yesterday.<\/p>\n The NSJF Pulsar Sports Award 2017, which covered sportspersons in various categories, honored Limbu and Tamang with the \u2018Player of the Year\u2019 title in the Male and Female categories, respectively.<\/p>\n Other sportsmen who competed with Limbu in the Male category include badminton\u2019s Ratnajit Tamang, cricketer Sharad Vewaskar, athlete Som Bahadur Kumal and Man Bahadur Shrestha of volleyball.<\/p>\n Whereas, archery\u2019s Gyanu Awale, athletes Kanchi Maya Koju and Saraswati Bhattarai, and football\u2019s Sabitra Bhandari challenged Tamang in the Female category.<\/p>\n Limbu\u2019s mother received the award on his behalf as he has gone for a match in Maldives.<\/p>\n In response to the award, Tamang said, \u201cI was nominated for this award couple of years back, but this time I have finally bagged it. I want to dedicate this award to everyone including my family, coaching team, Nepal Badminton Association and Citizens Bank who have helped me through my career.\u201d<\/p>\n Other Key Titles<\/strong><\/p>\n While the national volleyball men\u2019s team was declared as the \u2018Team of the Year\u2019, athlete coach Pushpa Raj Ojha\u00a0grabbed the \u2018Coach of the Year\u2019 title, Manita Shrestha Pradhan received the \u2018Youth Player of the Year\u2019 award and athlete Kanchi Maya Koju won the \u2018People\u2019s Choice\u2019 award that was declared on the basis of SMS and Facebook likes.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Nepal\u2019s first golfer Ghana Shyam Thapa was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Padam Badela\u00a0received the Para-athlete award.<\/p>\n Prisoners Assistance Mission also received a special award on the occasion.<\/p>\n Each of the \u2018Player of the Year\u2019 title winners, in both Male and Female categories, were rewarded a Pulsar motorcycle and Rs 50,000 cash prize.
