September 06, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\nNepal seems to be witnessing a lot of fresh activity as the festival season is setting in to celebrate the country\u2019s major festivals, Dashain and Tihar.<\/p>\n
While on one side, government departments are busy taking necessary measures such as ensuring sufficient availability of commodities in the market, among others, private companies (on the other side) are planning their business marketing strategies to get best out the festival season.<\/p>\n
Private Firms and Exciting Offers<\/h4>\n
In line with the public expectations on festival discount sales, various companies have already planned exciting festival offers and schemes and automobile is one such industry that usually aims high on festival season.<\/p>\n
Many multi-national automobile giants, such as Ford, Tata, Bajaj, Hyundai, TVS, Hero, Suzuki, Honda and Mahindra and their associated dealers in the country have already announced their special offerings.<\/p>\n
One authorised Nepali distributor of Ford has announced up a scheme named \u2018Cash ma Cash Offer\u2019, offering benefits worth up to Rs 1.1 million. Another dealer (of Tata Motors) is giving away ten tolas of gold on every car purchase.<\/p>\n
One of the schemes named \u2018TVS Sarna 100 Din\u2019, by a TVS dealer, is offering an instant discount of
\nRs 7,000 on motorbikes and Rs 9,000 on scooters, with an additional offer of 1 tola gold every day for 100 days.<\/p>\n
Likewise, many others are also offering various exciting offers such as free insurance for two years, cash bonus of up to Rs 1 lakh through scratch cards, thousands of rupees of exchange bonuses, among others.<\/p>\n
Government for Smooth Supply of Commodities<\/h4>\n
Meanwhile, the Government of Nepal is making necessary arrangements to ensure smooth and fair supply of commodities during the upcoming festival season.<\/p>\n
In this regard, the state-owned Salt Trading Corporation (STC) imported 25,000 tonnes of sugar from India, which is almost half of 50,000 tonnes STC had planned to import by November.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe corporation imported the sugar considering upcoming festivals like Dashain, Tihar and Chhath as demand for sugar shoots up during this season. The amount we have imported will ensure that there will be no shortage of the essential sweetener during the festive season,\u201d says Amoj Lamichhane, Chief of the company\u2019s Birgunj office.<\/p>\n
According to STC, the imported shipments would bring down sugar prices in the country by Rs 2-3 per kg.<\/p>\n
Advance Travel Bookings On Rise<\/h4>\n
Travel bookings are at pace across the country as the public started planning their travel for the upcoming Dashain festival.<\/p>\n
This was evident in a recent move by the country\u2019s various travel entrepreneurs, wherein they demanded the government to allow hike in travel fares and also let them carry passengers and loads on bus-roofs.<\/p>\n
They urged the government to meet their demands and rejected to open bookings until their demands are met. Finally, the government agreed and they decided to open the advance bookings starting tomorrow.<\/p>\n
According to the Nepali Transport Department estimates, large number of people are expected to leave the Kathmandu Valley for their celebrations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
