September 01, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\nSudden and heavy rains alerted Nepal, yesterday, raising fresh concerns again after the recent floods that have hit the country very badly.<\/p>\n
According to Shanti\u00a0Kadel, Meteorologist at Meteorological Forecasting Division, intense\u00a0heating due to moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea resulted in the latest rainfall.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince there was no rain in the last few days, there was intense heating. With support from the moisture, local clouds formed over the hills,\u201d says Kadel. MFD predicted light to moderate rainfall in most places and heavy rainfall in the eastern region.<\/p>\n
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), in its regular bulletin today morning, also warned the public in eastern Nepal of possible threats due to rising water levels across various rivers.<\/p>\n
DHM alerted possible rise in water levels in Biring, Mechi, Sunsari Khola, Kankai, Koshi and Triyuga rivers flowing from the mid-hills\u00a0and Tarai.<\/p>\n
According to the department, rivers of western Nepal might also witness rising water levels, but not at dangerous levels.<\/p>\n
DHM also warned of possible landslides, due to heavy rains, in the eastern and central hills.<\/p>\n
Flood Victims Protest at Rautahat DAO<\/h4>\n
Meanwhile, flood victims of Hajaminiya and Pathara villages of Rajdevi Municipality in Rautahat staged protests at Rautahat District Administration Office demanding necessary relief support in view of recent floods.<\/p>\n
Stating that they were left out in earlier relief distribution measures, they demanded immediate relief and assistance for the reconstruction of their houses damaged in floods.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
