According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal has recorded the highest single-day coronavirus infections and fatalities on Sunday.<\/p>\n
In the last 24-hours, the country has witnessed 1,221 new COVID-19 cases<\/strong>, taking the total cases to 38,561.<\/p>\n With the start of community-level coronavirus transmission, there has been a sudden surge in the number of COVID-19 fatalities in recent weeks.<\/p>\n On August 15, the COVID-19 death toll crossed the 100-mark. However, the deaths doubled within just two weeks and reached 221 on August 30.<\/p>\n In the past 24-hours, Nepal has reported 14 COVID-19 deaths, the highest so far in a day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Meanwhile, around 267 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the country, taking the total recoveries to 20,822.<\/p>\n Currently, there are 17,518 active cases with 6,900 patients in-home quarantine and 10,612 in isolation wards.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n In view of rising coronavirus cases in the country, the Nepali Government has decided to withdraw its decision to resume domestic flights and long-haul transportation services from September 1.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On August 30, the government has decided to suspend the domestic flight operations and long-distance bus services until September 16.<\/p>\n Likewise, the government has announced the closure of educational institutes until September 16.<\/p>\n However, the cabinet meeting has decided to allow international flights to repatriate stranded Nepalis.
