On the back of unprecedented lockdown order issued in the Kathmandu Valley, people thronged supermarkets, vegetable bazaars, and grocery shops on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Many were seen indulging in panic buying, fearing that the week-long prohibitory order may lead to a shortage of supplies.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sale of daily essentials soared more than double as compared to the normal day transaction as people started thronging to the shops to keep stock of the food items and other essentials,\u201d said a local vendor.<\/p>\n
People are uncertain about how long the restriction will be in place, pushing them to buy excess edibles than necessary.<\/p>\n

Apart from the food stores, almost all the gasoline stations witnessed a huge crowd.\u00a0The sudden demand and supply shortage led to a spike in prices of all essential products, especially vegetables, across the Valley.<\/p>\n
