On Tuesday, Nepal has recorded the biggest single-day spike of 1,016 COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infections to 28,257.<\/p>\n
Even the recovery rate has also dropped to 62.2%, with 17,580 people recovering in the country from the coronavirus infection. As many as 85 patients were discharged after successful recovery on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
With the death of 8 patients in the last 24 hours, the nation\u2019s fatality rate rose to 115.<\/p>\n
Currently, there are 10,563 active COVID-19 cases, and 13,926 suspects are in quarantine.<\/p>\n

As per the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal<\/a> is expected to reach 179,123 by mid-October, at the current infection rate.<\/p>\n The Ministry has estimated that there will be 6,043 active cases, 4,834 asymptomatic cases, 302 critically cases, and 906 hospital admissions by the end of September.<\/p>\n However, the infection rate is expected to decrease gradually from the third week of August.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a bid to contain the rapid spread of COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley<\/a>, the Chief District Officers (CDOs) have decided to issue the prohibitory order in three districts until August 26, starting Wednesday midnight.<\/p>\n Earlier on Tuesday, a meeting of the CDOs had assessed the situation of COVID-19 in Kathmandu, Lalitpur<\/a>, and Bhaktapur. The meeting had concluded that restricting the movement of people and vehicles could be a best alternative to contain the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n Only essential services will be permitted during the prohibitory period.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the MoHP had decided to prepare an isolation ward with 1,000-bed capacity in Kathmandu Valley.<\/p>\n In the last 24 hours, the Valley has reported 205 new coronavirus cases.
